  • Overview and Responsibilities

    BET Networks is seeking a Senior Vice President, Digital Content & Studios. Dually reporting to the President of BET Networks and the President of Viacom Digital Studios (VDS), the successful incumbent will build out the content strategy and execution plan across multiple categories, to extend the BET brand and content in all digital platforms to maximize relevancy, reach and ultimately revenue. From building out new digital channels and franchises, to maximizing existing, this role will lead the reinvention of BET in our digital and 3rd party platforms.


    In this role, you will be responsible for:

    • Leading BET strategic vision and oversee the creative/editorial voice for digital content creation across all verticals, as well as short form branded entertainment.
    • Developing and creating content and vertical brands to build audience reach, engagement and BET brand relevancy.
    • Maximizing IP to build unique content verticals for todays audience and content consumption.
    • Facilitating digital content ideation for tentpole and special events across the network
    • Establishing fluid communication between the BET team and the central Viacom team.
    • Leveraging functional experts within the Digital Studios, in areas such as Production and Audience Development, to bring “on-brand” digital content to the BET audience every day.
    • Serving as the connection point to the Studios Branded Content capability and existing cross-Viacom marketing and sales teams.

    The successful incumbent will:

    • Bring a passion for the BET brand, as well as previous leadership role within digital media
    • Bring in-depth knowledge of current topics that are relevant to BET, and have proven editorial skills leading content at a top digital brand
    • Be an enthusiastic team leader with proven editorial and leadership skills, who fully understands the BET audience, and bring a firm understanding of the media and digital business, with experience handling a budget and a large team
    • Bring strategy, content creation, management experience as well as the ability to be an innovative and effective leader of creative talent
    • Bring a consistent track record of providing timely content across categories that include news, sports, lifestyle, fashion, entertainment, urban style, music, health and beauty, for women and men
    • Bring industry leading experience developing video-based internet and mobile products that have been tailored across different platforms
    • Bring a track record of selecting talent and industry subject matter experts, as well as be a respected authority in your own right. This executive will work with influencers and secure access to exclusive and original content in various sectors, and ultimately create the vision for BET's digital content and will be the arbiter of what is hot, new and next!
    • Be known for strong team leadership and cross-departmental collaboration, have exhibited the ability to bring an organization along with change and/or growth, and have superb communication skills
    • Possess a strong sense of urgency, agility and the ability to work in a fast- paced environment, and have facility across sectors and platforms

    Basic Qualifications

    • 12+ years of overall experience in media, including at least 5 years of experience leading a large digital team at a top brand
