    Overview and Responsibilities

    The Data Solutions team sits within the larger Advanced Advertising organization at Viacom, supporting the entire Ad Sales organization across the Global Entertainment Group and Kids and Family clusters. At the core, we are a data-driven team that demonstrates data science to create strategic efficiencies and empower our ad sales teams with innovative offerings. We are passionate about developing data products that not only get utilized across the company, but also get talked about in the press for innovation.

     

    The Data Solutions team is looking for a Senior Data Scientist to help build large scale product initiatives centered around Addressable TV. To drive greater growth, we are continually innovating across Advanced TV marketplace yield optimization funnels. This is a high-impact position where you will guide product strategy through experimentation.

    Responsibilities

    • Building the algorithmic engine for a key revenue generating product
    • Design and deploy a yield optimization simulator
    • Implement Machine Learning algorithms for prediction and optimization, then deploy to production
    • Design and build predictive viewer behavior models for targeting optimization
    • Lead efforts to define new infrastructure to extract, manage, and analyze data in a scalable way, and to make use of this data to improve our profitability algorithms, and new product enhancements
    • Partner closely with Product Management leadership to design and build products that drive key decisions
    • Perform data exploration on user behavior to discover future Bayesian A/B testing opportunities
    • Present your research, including accuracy results, and validation methodologies to senior members of the company

    Basic Qualifications

    • Expert knowledge of machine learning, and advanced applied skills in developing predictive targeting and yield optimization models within distributed computing platforms such as Hadoop, AWS, Azure, GCP using tools like Spark, Scala, SAS, R, Python, Bayesian, H2O, Storm, Yarn, Kafka
    • Advanced level proficiency with statistical, machine learning modeling techniques such as regression, decision trees, neural networks, support vector machines, supervised/unsupervised clustering techniques, experimental test design, etc

    Additional Qualifications

    • Preferably 3+ years of experience as a Data Scientist, in a Big Data Environment
    • 3+ years of programming experience in Python. Java/Scala are also preferred
    • Experience with cloud infrastructure is a plus
    • An in-depth understanding of the Media industry and its competitors, including trends, current and emerging analytical methods, data methodology and technology is a BIG plus
    • Experience in programmatic ad-tech also a plus
