BET is the dominant African-American consumer brand with a diverse group of business extensions: BET.com, a leading Internet destination for Black entertainment, music, culture, and news; CENTRIC, a 24-hour entertainment network targeting the 25- to 54-year-old African-American audience; BET Digital Networks - BET Gospel and BET Hip Hop, attractive alternatives for cutting-edge entertainment tastes; BET Mobile, which provides ringtones, games and video content for wireless devices; and BET International, which operates BET in the United Kingdom and oversees the extension of BET network programming for global distribution.

 

We are seeking an innovative, highly experienced senior marketing executive to join the Marketing Team as Senior Vice President of Brand Strategy and Marketing. The SVP of Brand Strategy and Marketing will oversee the network’s marketing strategy for media, and affiliates. This executive role would elevate compelling insights about culture and trends that relate to our audience, and what that means for the BET brand that serves them. These audiences also include both our employees and key external stakeholders. The SVP of Brand Strategy and Marketing will take the lead in translating these audience insights to meet the challenges and opportunities facing our business and our partners’ businesses.

 

 

Responsibilities

  • Working closely with the EVP of Communications and Marketing and the Marketing Team to ensure the vision of BET is being realized
  • Create strategies to elevate BET programming to drive ratings and build a larger audience share
  • Have a deep understanding of our audience – what drives them, how they perceive the world
  • Lead marketing strategy and execution: develop and execute marketing initiatives designed to highlight the creativity, thought-leadership, talent and innovations of BET for key audiences (including Employees, advertisers, distributors, press, investors, the creative community, and prospective employees)
  • Support and monitor the health of global consumer brands: facilitate brand strategy and positioning initiatives with the brands as requested. Track the pulse of BET’s brand portfolio and generate meaningful insight about where we are resonating with fans, where we face challenges, and where there are opportunities
  • Lead cross-functional teams to deliver against strategic objectives: collaborate with the business units including important functional constituents such as ad sales, distribution, research, communications and human resources

Basic Qualifications

  • A minimum of 15 years of relevant work experience with a background spanning some combination of marketing, advertising, consulting, research, and innovation
  • Bachelor's degree required; a master's degree preferred
