Overview and Responsibilities

The Senior Manager is responsible for managing projects and operations of the Consumer Products portfolio.  This person manages all phases of application development, including project management, analysis, business process design, functional requirements, vendor’s software specification and design, application development and delivery, user acceptance testing, and customer rollout and training. The individual manages and provides ongoing support to the business responding to a variety of inquiries and issues regarding the systems or processes in the business area, ensuring efficient resolution with minimal impact to business operations. This person will be a central liaison between the team, internal IT departments, 3rd party vendors, and business users operating within the team’s portfolio. The portfolio consists of royalty / licensing, financial subledger, and license/agent portals including forecasting and deal memo applications supporting the Consumer Products division.  This position requires a high level of team leadership, analysis, relationship management, and multi-tasking.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Coaches, mentors, and guides team members, both staff and non-staff. Provides the technical oversight and leadership necessary to accomplish work
  • Leads and oversees requirements gathering sessions, proactively drawing out requirements from stakeholders.
  • Analyzes business operations and processes to understand strengths and weaknesses and support the identification of opportunities for automation.
  • Creates and supervises creation of requirements definition documentation, including use cases, and functional specifications to capture business needs and for validation with the customer and shared with project stakeholders.
  • Creates and supervises creation of workflow diagrams to document the current and future business environment.
  • Manages large sized projects or programs or a portfolio of small projects where there is significant complexity, visibility/priority and risk to the business. This includes developing project plans, managing the project schedule and budget to meet deliverables, assigning work to project staff, managing project scope and reporting, and ensuring the quality of deliverables.
  • Leads the management and resolution of almost all project risks, issues and change controls, escalating to management where necessary.
  • For larger projects leads internal QA team on writing test cases, planning testing cycles, and managing bug resolution. For smaller projects participates in testing activities. 
  • Leads and supports all rollout activities that are critical for making projects successful – user acceptance testing, business training, documentation, user hand holding, etc.
  • Ensures through the team and provides ongoing support to the business by responding to inquiries and issues regarding specific implemented systems or processes, ensuring prompt resolution with minimal impact to business operations.
  • Responds and communicates efficiently between the business, MTS (IT), and external vendors on projects and to facilitate resolution of user issues as and when necessary.
  • Effectively and proactively clarifies, sets, and manages customer expectations including delivering tough messages.
  • Communicates in written, oral and presentation formats to best represent and express user and organizational needs to all levels including senior-level management.
  • Forms productive relationships with internal customers by listening, clarifying, and responding effectively.
  • Leads and participates in negotiations with vendors and managing vendors in their work.
  • Negotiates and commits to deliverables with business partner(s) and project or program team
  • Works closely with business users to ensure implementation activities are in alignment with business strategy and objectives
  • Leads ROI and other financial analyses including developing business cases / project justifications.
  • Partners with the business in defining scope and priorities for system initiatives (new projects and ongoing maintenance)
  • Participates in the development of RFIs/RFPs.

Basic Qualifications

  • Typical candidate will possess 6+ years of relevant experience and BA/BS degree or equivalent. Advanced degree highly desirable.

  • Exceptional communication skills – written, presentation skills, etc.
  • Exceptional client handling skills – able to work with all levels within the client portfolio
  • Proven ability to support Business Process Re-engineering (BPR) and Change Management
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver business-oriented solutions, across a portfolio of projects
  • Able to successfully manage a varied workload with minimal intervention from Management
  • Thorough understanding of the software development lifecycle
  • Established project management skills including project scheduling and resource management
  • Ability to apply the following tools in business analysis and project management tasks: MS Excel, MS Project, MS Visio, MS PowerPoint, MS Word.
  • Possesses the aptitude to quickly understand the subject matter, work processes and flows in various business units.
  • Experience with 3rd party packages, custom built solutions, and system integrations required.

Desired Qualifications / Experience:

  • Degree in Computer Science or related fields is desired. 
  • CCBA/CBAP certification is desired.
  • PMP/Agile certification is desired.
  • Knowledge of one or more of the following systems or applications is highly desired:
  • Royalties / Licensing Management
  • Financial Sub-ledgers
  • Contract Management
  • Product Development
  • Entertainment, media or cable, and legal experience preferred
