  • Overview and Responsibilities

    The Senior Accountant, Corporate will be responsible for preparing analysis and related journal entries for various balance sheet and P&L accounts for Viacom Corporate and Media Networks. Responsible for assisting in the preparation of the Financial Statements and other reporting deliverables submitted to Reporting for inclusion in the Company’s quarterly and annual SEC filings.  Responsible for working on ad-hoc projects assigned by the VP or Managers of Accounting. 

    • Assist in the monthly close process by preparing analysis and respective journal entries pertaining to amongst other areas departmental reclasses, payroll interface, year-end/month end accruals, compensation and fringe related accruals and prepaid expenses.
    • Prepare monthly fixed asset analyses, ensuring that capital expenditures, transfers to divisions, disposals, depreciation expense are properly captured in the SAP subledger.  
    • Assist with goodwill & intangibles and investment reconciliations, as needed.
    • Assist with the preparation of various monthly and quarterly balance sheet analyses for Viacom Corporate and Media Networks
    • Assist with the preparation of monthly reconciliations in Trintech for assigned balance sheet accounts
    • Assist with maintaining the Hyperion and Khalix chart of accounts, and as needed with uploading the Balance Sheet, P&L and Rollforwards into Hyperion
    • Prepare aviation statements for executives personal use for W2 inclusion and proxy purposes
    • Assist auditors with information/support documentation they request for the audits
    • Assist the external auditors with information/support documentation requested for the quarterly reviews and annual audit
    • Ensure that internal control processes and procedures are adhered to, and all SOX tests are properly evidenced
    • Assist the department with special projects as assigned by the VP or Managers of Corporate Accounting
    • Leads and direct the work of a Temporary staff and Interns, as necessary

    Basic Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting

    Additional Qualifications


    • 3-4 years of experience in public accounting 
    • 1-2 years of industry experience
    • CPA preferred
    • This position requires a team player who can contribute to the department’s goals, as well as work independently. 
    • The individual must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities and work well under pressure. 
    • Position is ideal for a motivated self-starter who is flexible with the willingness to learn and grow.
    • Good organizational skills and attention to detail are required, as well as strong analytical and problem solving skills.
    • A high level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with use of SAP and Khalix is preferred.
    • The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of accounting principles and is able to apply them.
