  • Overview and Responsibilities

    Global Emerging Opportunities (GEO) is a centralized group to support innovation throughout Viacom. Our mission is to research, track, and identify commercial opportunities in emerging technology that will impact the future of the entertainment industry. GEO is a sub-division of the Viacom Corporate Development and Mergers and Acquisitions group.


    The Director will be an integral team member, reporting into the Vice President/Head of the GEO division. This individual will lead research and analysis of strategic opportunities in areas such as virtual reality, immersive live events, podcasting, mobile messaging, eSports, and other emerging areas in the industry. The position is based at Viacom’s headquarters in NYC.


    • Conduct comprehensive analyses of strategic commercial opportunities, competitive landscape, market research, and growth forecasts
    • Create presentations and models to summarize key findings
    • Present to senior executives across the company
    • Organize and track communication flow with startups and early-stage companies

    Basic Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree
    • A minimum of 3+ years of experience in management consulting, investment banking, venture capital or private equity

    Additional Qualifications

    • Experience in and familiarity with media and technology industries
    • Excellent analytical and organizational skills with extreme attention to detail
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, comfortable presenting ideas and proposals to high-level executives and company partners
    • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple time-sensitive projects with critical deliverables
    • Comfortable working with diverse stakeholders across creative development, design, marketing, finance, and legal
