  • Overview and Responsibilities

    Viacom’s Core Services Facilities Engineering team is hiring an experienced Facility Engineer with a proven record to maintain a 24/7 critical facility. The Facility Engineer reports to the Facilities Supervisor, CORE Services. 

     

    PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

     

    • At the direction of supervisor, maintaining, monitoring, and performing preventive maintenance and continuous operation of all building systems including: fire/life safety, mechanical (HVAC, plumbing, controls) electrical (lighting, UPS, PDU, generators, primary switch gear), emergency backup systems and hot water systems; monitors operation, adjusts, and maintains refrigeration, chilled water, and air conditioning equipment; boilers, and ventilating and hot water heaters; pumps, valves, piping and filters; other mechanical and electrical equipment; record readings and make adjustments where necessary to ensure proper operation of equipment
    • Familiarity with operations of all systems that are required to support a 24/7 facility during a power related emergency, e.g. UPSs, motor generators, ATSs, fuel pumps, etc
    • Conducting monthly emergency equipment exercises as outlined in the company’s SOPs
    • Operate BMS (Alerton is the BMS on site) for access control and ability to trend data
    • Shift work and un-planned Over Time work may be required

    Basic Qualifications

    • A High School diploma or equivalent educational certification preferred
    • A minimum of 5 to10 years of operational experience in a 24/7 critical facility preferred

    Additional Qualifications

    • FDNY Refrigeration License a plus
    • Certificate for Freon Reclamation a plus 
    • Must possess systematic knowledge of emergency generator systems
    • Operate, maintain and repair refrigerant compressors, condensers, evaporators, traps, transfer pumps, expansion valves, stop valves and float valves, together with all refrigerant lines and devices used to control temperature
    • Ability to read and understand schematic drawings
    • Requires the ability to analyze the operation of various systems, determine the cause of any problems/malfunctions and take corrective action as required
    • Knowledge of energy manage systems, related computer systems, and PM work order programs
    • Knowledge of electrical power distribution and auxiliaries for the building’s lighting, mechanical, plumbing and control components including lighting maintenance
    • Excellent communication, organization and coordination with co-workers, tenants, and vendors
    • Ability to work independently with limited supervision
    • Provide hands on experience troubleshooting HVAC related problems
    • Familiar with Fire Alarm systems and fire suppression systems with VESDA systems
    • Determine supply and material inventory levels to support facility
    • Demonstrated knowledge of heating, pneumatic, lighting, ventilation, air condition, refrigeration, and other mechanical equipment; and the methods, tools, materials, and terminology and equipment used in the operation, maintenance, and repair of such equipment
    • Must have hands-on experience in a data center/critical facility, including UPS Systems, Kirk-Key Loc, emergency generators, and switch-gear
    • Computer skills: Outlook, MS Office necessary to operate computer for general day to day work
    • Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. and climb ladders as required
    • Possess, maintain, or obtain all licenses required by code, including but not limited to: Refrigerant recovery certification (preferred), NYC Refrigeration Machine Operator License (RMO License) (preferred)
    • Certification as a Universal Technician for CFC’s (preferred)
    • Energy Management Certification (preferred)
    • Familiarity with OSHA regulations and MSDAs data gath
