  • Overview and Responsibilities

    The Manager, Contract Management Employment Law will be responsible for drafting agreements and maintaining templates.  The ideal candidate will have an extreme level of attention to detail, critical thinking, legal research skills, and the ability to multi-task. This position will report to the VP, Employment Law.

    • Draft employment agreements, separation agreements and all related documents
    • Maintain templates for form agreements for all divisions (including employment agreements, contractual separation agreements and one sheets, at-will separation agreements and one sheets, and frequently-used vendor agreements); this will include making revisions as instructed (and duplicating those revisions across multiple versions of a template), as well as preparing and updating agreement binders; develop and maintain a virtual template binder online; also maintain historical templates
    • Be first responder to questions from HR and potentially opposing counsel on requested revisions to form agreements, working from template responses drafted by attorneys.
    • Prepare age addenda for all RIFs; can include managing multiple versions; this employee is expected to stay up to speed on all legal developments relating to OWBPA age disclosures and provide advice on maintaining a compliant, state of the art process and form; employee will be asked to conduct legal research regarding same
    • Perform adverse impact analysis for all RIFs and communicate with attorneys re same; this employee is expected to research and advise regarding various methods of conducting statistical analysis
    • Maintain up-to-the-minute status report of all agreements in progress across all divisions; this will require coordination with assistants and attorneys for agreements that this person does not draft and/or revise themselves; prepare subsets of that overall status report as requested
    • Maintain agreement databases (electronic filing of signed agreements)
    • Actively participate in the contract automation and e-signature initiatives
    • Suggest improvements to processes
    • Keep up to speed on legal issues potentially affecting our forms agreements
    • Other legal research projects as requested
    • Prepare company Affirmative Action Plans

    Basic Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree
    • 5+ years’ experience in a law firm or legal department

    Additional Qualifications

    • JD or paralegal certificate preferred
    • Mastery of Microsoft Word and Workshare; strong Excel and PowerPoint skills a plus
    • Discretion and confidentiality
    • Extreme level of attention to detail (i.e., drafts always subject to attorney review, but corrections due to typos or failure to proofread should never be required and other, more substantive corrections should be required only infrequently)
    • Critical thinking (e.g. ability to take changes to one form and duplicate across other forms – would be subject to attorney review, but corrections should be required infrequent; ability to take instructions like “add good reason to this contract” and know which provisions are impacted)
    • Legal research skills
    • Ability to multi-task and prioritize (department generates more than 1,000 agreements per year)
    • Ability to work with attorneys with varying work styles
    • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with HR colleagues
